LEG LUBE: Last year Leanda Cave had an incredible two-month run in October and November. She started with a third-place finish at the IRONMAN World Championship, then followed that up with a win at IRONMAN 70.3 Miami, a runner-up finish at the ITU World Long Distance Championship in Las Vegas, then rounded out the year with her first IRONMAN in Arizona.
After a two-month stretch like that, it almost shouldn’t be surprising that the beginning of the year was tough for Cave, who dealt with a number of injuries and sickness during the first few months of the year. “Things seem to always go pear-shaped for me at the start of the year,” Cave said after her win today. “And then I come up strong at the end of the year. I got on the start line not cooking myself today. I’ve still got a bit of work to do before Kona. I feel like I’m in the right place right now.” Great job Leanda!
