Ironman Changes Lives Thru World Bicycle Relief

LEG LUBE: As IRONMAN athletes line up at races all over the world, meticulously cared for bikes hang on transition racks awaiting the second leg of the race-day journey. From technical components to clipless pedals and carbon frames, the average triathlete will spend several thousand dollars to achieve faster split times and a perfect cycling experience. Though triathletes view bicycles as a means of pursuing sport, for people living in economically impoverished countries they are a luxury that most cannot afford.

In effort to further a worldwide industrial revolution, The IRONMAN Foundation is proud to announce its partnership with World Bicycle Relief during the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. By providing simple, sustainable transportation in the form of a bicycle, World Bicycle Relief multiplies an individual’s efficiency by increasing carrying capacity while saving travel time. Bicycles also improve access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity.

Having participated at an Ironman event & silent auction earlier this year on behalf of LEG LUBE, I can attest that Ironman’s commitment to World Bicycle Relief delivers the goods. Thousands of dollars were raised that evening at Colorado Multisport resulting in many bicycles going to people who really need them. If you have a moment, we encourage you to give to this great non-profit. We did.
